Terms of use
1. Who we are and what this covers
These terms apply to the Tic Tac Know app and this website. Tic Tac Know is a trivia tic-tac-toe game: each square is where a row condition meets a column condition, and a correct answer claims it. The operator is Onur Sevik, Lausitzer Platz 17, 10997 Berlin, Germany, an individual developer (see the Imprint).
2. Acceptance and minimum age
The terms are shown, with a link to the Privacy policy, before you start playing (during onboarding), and you can open them again at any time under Profile › About. By continuing to use the app you accept them.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Tic Tac Know.
3. Your account
You play with an account that the app creates for you on first start. It has no email address or password; it is identified by a random player ID on your phone. Online features (profile, Daily history, Play a friend) need it. You can delete it at any time in the app (see the Privacy policy).
4. Names and avatars
Your username has 3 to 16 characters, letters and numbers only, and must be free. By choosing it you allow it, with your avatar and featured title, to be shown to your opponents in Play a friend. Do not use a name that insults or harasses others, is offensive, breaks the law, or impersonates a famous person, a brand or anyone else. Avatars are built-in images only; you cannot upload pictures.
5. Moderation and appeals
Names are checked by an automatic filter when you choose them. In Play a friend you can report another player's username, and you can block the player, who then cannot join your rooms. When a name has been reported by 5 different players, it is reset to a generated name. You are told in the app and can choose a new name. We may also review reports and names by hand.
If we restrict your access to online features, we tell you why. If you think a decision about your name or your account is wrong, write to hello@tictacknow.com and explain; we look at it again and answer. This address is also our single point of contact for users and authorities under the Digital Services Act (Articles 11 and 12); you can write in English or German.
6. Fair play and abuse
Please play fair. You agree not to:
- use bots, scripts or other automation to answer for you, or scrape our questions, answers or data in bulk;
- harm or overload the servers, or try to get around the limits of the app;
- harass, insult or threaten other players;
- share invite links with strangers in bad faith, for example to annoy or exploit them;
- report other players or names without reason.
If you break these rules we may restrict your online features, and we will tell you the reason.
7. Questions and answers
The grids are generated from public data and our own lists (see “Content sources and licences”). Despite checks, an answer can be wrong or incomplete, and facts change over time. If the game turns down an answer you think is right, you can object to it from the result screen. An objection can lead us to fix our content, but it never changes the result of a match, a title or a streak, and it creates no claim to money or any other right.
8. Content sources and licences
Questions are built from Wikidata (CC0), MusicBrainz data (its core data is CC0) and the CIA World Factbook, which we name as an archived source because its publication ended in February 2026, plus our own lists. Parts of the app use open-source software, fonts and sounds under their own licences; you find them under Profile › About in the app.
The name “Tic Tac Know”, the game and its design are mine as the operator. You may use the app for your own, private play.
9. Availability and changes
Tic Tac Know is a free service. Online features need an internet connection and may be unavailable at times. We may change, pause or end features. If we end the whole service, we will give reasonable notice.
We may update these terms. For important changes we give notice in the app; the date above shows the latest version. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using the app and delete your account at any time.
10. Liability
We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz). Otherwise we are not liable for this free service.
11. Governing law
German law applies. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the mandatory consumer protection of the country where you live. There is no clause that forces consumers to sue in a particular court.
12. Contact
